The Northwest Training Institute, while accessible to everyone in the community, provides training with a focus on the nonprofit sector including board/volunteers, leadership and staff. Training may come in the form of workshops, conferences or private consultations. Our priority is quality, relevance and convenience. NWTI is a program of the Opportunity Council, a local Community Action Agency.
As you can tell from our website, we love data. Share with us three interesting data points that highlight your work.
- NWTI began in 2004.
- 1097 people have attended training in the form of workshops.
- 876 people have attended conferences.
Though we love data, we still have heart. Tell us about an experience that has made your work worthwhile.
Each year, we offer "Women and Leadership," a stimulating and dynamic three day workshop. Every year people leave energized and renewed. Not long ago, a woman who attended this workshop the first year it was offered, stood up in a group and said it changed her life. Pretty impressive!
Community health issues cross a number of sectors and agencies, tell us about your organizations role in the complex web of community health.
NWTI provides training that focuses on change management, supervision, communication and systems thinking. These are all relevant topics to the challenges of today.
Dream big here, if your organization received a sizable grant, what would you do with it?
We would create an educational track specific to the work people in non profits do - the first that comes to mind is case management. That training would allow people to get what they need within the community at an extremely low cost, or even no cost. This would significantly strengthen our community by sharpening skills, creating some consistencies, providing networking opportunities and increasing partnerships.
Any final words for our readers?
