| Organization Description |
ACP is designed to prevent offenders from using state and local government records to locate their victims. The ACP gives program participants a substitute mailing address that they may legally use when working with state and government agencies. The program also offers confidentiality for two normally public records: voter registration and marriage records. Office hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. An answering machine may be available after hours and on holidays. Clients must be residents of Washington State, survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence or stalking; and must have recently moved to a location unknown to the abuser and to government agencies. Services are provided without charge Using the ACP substitue address must be part of a more complete and long-term safety plan. Applicants must meet with a recognized ACP Application Assistant (usually a domestic violence or sexual assualt counselor) to talk about things to do to stay safe. The counselor will help develop a safety plan and help decide if the ACP should be part of that safety plan. |
